I found the grip of the staff to be more comfortable at these places where I am grabbing, and I can see that arms and legs are at a 45º angle providing optimum balance.

There is an understanding of the center of gravity no matter which martial art one comes from.

It is most  certain that with the traditional staff, the right hand would grab at the end of the much lighter staff.
