A JOURNEY IS WORTH MORE THAN A THOUSAND WORDS. Confucius The Foundation for Cooperation and Development of Macau is aware of its role in the social space of the Territory, either locally or internationally. Thus, both in the context of co-operation and development, it is clear that the cultural element is an indispensable factor in the global progress and enlightenment of societies. It is in this perspective of integrated development that the intervention and contribution of the Foundation are justified in the space and dynamics of Macau. Today it is impossible to think culture in merely local terms. Globalisation of information leads unavoidably to the necessary understanding that to think or act in isolation, in the contemplation of oneself, is more of a regression than – as desired- a step towards development. The cultural intervention that the Foundation wishes to carry forth is still within a limited scope – that should open progressively and solidly – albeit electing quality as an exclusive factor, aware that it exists all throughout the world and under all shapes.
