MESSAGE

In the framework of the discreet but growing assertion of its institutional identity, the Foundation for Co-operation and Development of Macau is fully aware of the importance of cultural commitment as an element to meld ideas and concepts leading to the complete and necessary dialogue and decoding of the universes that constitute the world.

In this context of necessary and irreversible dialogue that mankind is destined to develop in the new century, the Foundation for Co-operation and Development of Macau is establishing the first artistic and cultural expression links by developing a programme of Exhibitions to be carried forth.

In this spirit, it would be impossible to cast a look at the Pearl River Delta region without paying homage to one of the most outstanding artists of the People's Republic of China - a Foshan resident - who stood out as the most important author of his time, moulding out of lifeless clay master pieces that have set him as a live treasure of millennary China.

The exhibition that we present is an homage to the acclaimed name of Lio Chuan. It is also and acknowledgement of the continuity of the Master' art and name, through his descendants, who are here represented by Lio Gui Bing : an accomplished author in his own right with public work in Macau and an illustrious perpetuator of the Lio clan of Foshan.

The Foundation couldn't do less than pay homage to the unique figure of Master Lio Chuan by producing this precious exhibition, at the same time acknowledging Lio Gui Bing's effort in supporting the organisation of this show.
