THE PRACTICE OF CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY

When I lift up my writing brush and throw on the paper the first drop of ink, the pure white paper instantly turns into a world of matter. Through the process of extension of the drop of ink to the completion of the flourishing motion, I intend that I may experience from within the sensational world of my hand to the unconfined imagination and sophisticated motive.

I am continuously devoted to the most aged writings and Chinese calligraphy in many years, to such an extent that I conceive every Chinese character as a living body. Originating from the concept of modern Chinese calligraphy, using characters as the materials and the media, the images with character meanings are given birth to the aesthetically valued-for-appreciation visual art, which can be closely linked with contemporary living, through the dynamic interaction of rhythm, lines, combination of black and white color, etc.. This is my recent practice of Chinese calligraphy.

I hope these works can be regarded as the records of the roads I have passed through.
