The visit to the
14 th. Floor provided another idea based exactly on the
opposite of the solution encountered.
Being a very restricted access floor it is not deemed necessary
to follow the Corporate color scheme. Instead, the decision making
floor was treated as it should be: the center of decision and
management.
Though the rule for approaching a small area is to use light
colors, the ones found proved not to combine in a rich way. |

When coming out
of the lift, the centre piece – the wood and glass door – was felt not
to be sufficiently exalted. The only possible way would be through an
interplay of contrasts.
To that end I used the principle of negative reflection,
which is achieved through highly polished black marble. |

Combined with
the rich color of wood it would provide a warm and rich feeling
enhanced by the strong black mirror effect and by the use of a wooden
floor similar in colour to the door. The ceiling was also upgraded to
a very light aluminium grid as used in the Ground Floor to provide not
only a light and elegant ceiling but also a discreet but adequate
lighting.
Being a very transitory space, I did not feel the need to
furnish it, but am convinced that the solution presented is rich and
exquisitely elegant. |
