Polish: Satin polished. Section just in front of guard in 600 grit satin finish sand belt polish.
Guard and handle fittings: Satin finished. Nickel silver for
guard and fittings?
Handle wood: same as saya spalted maple only with a darker wash.
Heath Treatment: Hardened edge of course. Hamon is not
necessary to show but expect spine to be flexible.
Wooden Saya: Spalted maple dyed in a black transparent wash. Horn
ends. Please line inside of saya with a thin flannel to avoid scratching
the blade. It will also help if it is pre-soaked with mineral oil.
Leather Scabbard: For tactical use. Please softened areas in
contact with blade. The leather scabbard is to be used hanging on the
belt, left side. Knife position same as Japanese, with blade edge facing
backwards so that the belt hanger can act as a swivel when left hand
grabs scabbard to turn the handle front wards for drawing. The leather
should be a hard type.
Handling: Same balanced handling as
in the video below. Its a very fast and extra-sharp hardened point also.
The blade's kissaki is a natural continuation of the blade when cutting.
