This blade has a very special geometry devised for increased cutting ability. It is a shobu-zukuri koshi-zori that has very little, almost inexistent tapper. The width of the mune is larger than average.
I designed the fittings of this blade to go with the sanmai tanto as a matching pair in the same type of color scheme.
Even the tsuba is a black steel Wave tsuba while the remaining fittings are silver. I particularly like to use a silver kurikata and tsunegaeshi as a way to balance for a very muted black sageo.
Since I do not know of anyone working with real urushi lacquer, this blade has remained with a simple black made to order saya with horn fittings. Again I aim for an understated elegance.
